Social Media Horror Stories

From online blunders to a classic crisis, this Sacramento event
explores social media disasters and what every organization
should know to help repair the damage

Social media has increased the velocity of how we communicate. Unfortunately, for some brands and businesses, bad news travels TOO fast.  This month, we’re embracing the scarier side of social media with horrifying examples of when it all goes horribly wrong as well as offering strategies for quickly recovering from these disasters.

Social media disasters can cause irreparable damage to your brand reputation and they require new tools in the PR recovery tool box.  It isn’t just the big brands who are impacted by unwanted social media publicity; all businesses need to know what to do when a public relations nightmare hits.

Sacramento Social Media Club has gathered a panel of experienced Public Relations and Public Affairs professionals to discuss best practices for mitigating public relations disasters that are exacerbated by the viral nature of social media.

Panelists:

Josh Morgan, Vice President, Edelman Digital, Edelman, @joshdmorg

His approach to brand and reputation management is built on significant experience as a senior counselor to leading consumer and technology brands over the past decade. He has worked with the team that brought Skype to market, and was part of the award-winning communications team at Apple that helped turn the iPod from an MP3 player into an icon. Josh received a BA in Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California.
